StoneNest Beta — please read before you download

Effective date: upon adoption at launch

Thanks for trying StoneNest during the founding window. Here is the honest picture before you install.

What "beta" means

  • This is a free, pre-release build. It is the full app, offered at no charge during the founding window.
  • Because it is pre-release, it may contain bugs, features may change or be removed, and we make no promise of support or of any specific future release. Use it as an estimating aid, not as your only source of truth.
  • Estimates only. Slab counts, yield, and layouts are estimates that depend on the inputs you provide. Always verify them and apply your own contingency before relying on them in any bid, quote, purchase, or fabrication decision.
  • Your use of the beta is governed by the End User License Agreement (EULA), including its warranty disclaimer, estimates disclaimer, and limitation of liability. You accept the EULA when you download.

The build is code-signed — and here is how to check

Every StoneNest build is code-signed by STONENEST LLC with an organization-validated certificate issued by Certum, and timestamped so the signature stays valid after the certificate expires. To see it for yourself: right-click StoneNest.exe, choose Properties, and open the Digital Signatures tab. The signer must read STONENEST LLC.

Windows may still show a Microsoft SmartScreen warning ("Windows protected your PC") for a while. A signing certificate proves who published the software; SmartScreen additionally builds a reputation score for each new file, and a brand-new build starts with none. The warning fades as more people download and run it without incident. If you see it:

  1. On the SmartScreen dialog, click More info.
  2. Confirm the publisher line reads STONENEST LLC — if it does not, stop and email support@stonenest.app.
  3. Then click Run anyway.

Verify your download (SHA-256)

We publish the SHA-256 hash of every beta build so you can confirm the file you downloaded is exactly the file we published, unaltered. The current build's hash is shown on the download page.

To check it on Windows:

  1. Open PowerShell.
  2. Type Get-FileHash, followed by the path to the file you downloaded in quotes (for example, the StoneNest-Setup.exe file in your Downloads folder), and press Enter.
  3. Compare the Hash value it prints to the published hash. They should match exactly; letter case does not matter.
  4. If they do not match, do not run the file. Delete it and download again from stonenest.app.
